MAJOR TROPHY SHOW JUDGES REPORT -
Mr D Harrison
I
should like to take this opportunity of congratulating all concerned for
organizing and promoting this 2006 Major Trophy Show. It really was an
excellent show run in a very professional and sporting manner. It was good
to see all exhibitors and their dogs turned out in such an immaculate
way.
My
sincere thanks to the Major Trophy Show committee for inviting me to judge
and also to my fellow judges, Nonnie Oosthuizen and Deon Schoeman for
completing ‘The Team’, well done to you all.
| BEST
IMPORTED DOG: |
| My
co-judge, Deon and I, were in full agreement on the winner of this
class Mr Vermeulen’s Ch & Ch(UK) NEVERLAND HOUSEMASTER at
BELLMALVERN (IMP UK). A strong thickset powerful white dog.
Strong well filled head with correct mouth and dark eye. Good
front with adequate bone, level topline when standing moved well
both ways. Beginning to show his age of nearly six years but on
the day, looked very well. He was handled to perfection and beat
his brindle ‘rival’ on maturity and showmanship. |

JUG - DOGS OVER TWO YEARS: |
|
This
class was not as strong as the previous dog vase but nevertheless
a nice one to judge. My winner Mr Mattheys’ BUKAVI TITAN,
a nice powerful white dog with a very strong well filled head and
good profile, adequate bone and topline. Moved well both ways but
did not show well on this hot afternoon, I also thought he would
have been better with some weight loss.
My
co-judge, Nonnie, went for Mr Kock’s white dog BONWITT DOUBLE
TROUBLE of
IZIGHALO who was my second choice. Also a nice dog with
a good head and even profile, on the day he had developed an
allergy to something and had a lot of bumps on his body. However,
I chose TITAN on his better head and type. Split decision
and Deon, the ref. sided with me and therefore TITAN
won. |

| COLOURED
DOGS: |
| Deon
and I were in full agreement for the winner of this class Mrs du
Plessis’ PANOMAR KLAAS OXSAN a big red powerful fourteen
month old dog, a real heavy weight for his age. Strong head, well
filled with good mouth and dark eye I would have preferred more
profile. Good front and layback with level topline and strong
hindquarters with a nice bend of stifle, moved and showed well. |

| IMPORTED
BITCHES: |
|
Only
one entry – Mr Michau’s HIGH TIDE TONIGHT of LORDERON (IMP
UK). A
young immature and nervous black brindle and white with a
beautiful head, good bone and spring of rib. It was a great pity
that we could not properly judge her, she was very shy. Hopefully
she will grow out of this with maturity. |

| ORMANDY
VASE - BITCHES UNDER 2 YEARS: |
| A
nice strong class of eight bitches – Nonnie and I were unanimous
in our decision for Mr and Mrs Evangelides’ lovely white bitch CH.
RHINESTONE ROUGH GEMBABY. For me, she was an easy winner, a
very pretty bitch with a good strong head, well filled with a
small dark eye and good mouth. Nice profile, good front with
enough bone, good layback and topline moved well both ways with
drive, strong hindquarters -
I nominated her for entrance to ‘Best Mover’. |

JUG - BITCHES UNDER 2 YEARS: |
|
For
me, the best class of the day although I did not judge the Dog
Vase. Two white bitches stood out, namely Ms. Henning’s CH.
DAJAMANI DILLARY and Mr. Lubbe’s CH. DELVINO C’EST SI
BON of LUBJAN. Both of them are very pretty. I personally
chose the bigger bitch DILLARY on her overall type. She has
a beautiful head in all ways with very keen expression from those
small dark eyes, a long neck, excellent front and bone with good
layback, short coupled. I did not like her hindquarters nor her
rear movement but I always judge on virtues. She is a very showy
and confident bitch who was presented and handled to perfection. C’EST
SI BON is also a lovely bitch, I preferred the stronger head
and reach of neck on DILLARY but C’EST SI BON’S
hind action was better. Deon went for C’EST SI BON and I
chose DILLARY, Nonnie was the referee and sided with me on
the overall Jug winner – DILLARY. |

| BEST
COLOURED DOG: |
| Deon
and I were unanimous for the winner PANOMAR KLAAS OXSAN. |
| |
| BEST
MOVER: |
| Another
unanimous decision for the winner CH. RUFF ‘N READY owned
by Mr Vermeulen, not an easy class to judge in those conditions. |
| |
| SABTC - BITCH OF
THE YEAR |
| Another
unanimous decision, both Deon and I chose the Ormandy Vase winner CH.
RHINESTONE ROUGH GEMBABY, a truly lovely bitch. |
| |
| SA SUPREME BULL
TERRIER OF 2006 |
|
All
three judges ‘performed’ for this prestigious award, without
any conferring. I personally selected the Bitch of The Year – CH.
RHINESTONE ROUGH GEMBABY, and I lost. Both Nonnie and Deon
chose the Dog of The Year – PANOMAR KLAAS OXSAN, that’s
good democracy for you.
What
a day! Congratulations to all the winners and thank you one and
all for making my day a memorable one.
